land 2014 10 mirror lake island tree hi resAs you drive up the tree-shaded lane onto the grounds of Camp Rockmont and first look out across Lake Eden to the mountains rising behind, you know you are in a magical place. The site of the former Black Mountain College, Camp Rockmont sits on 550 acres of pristine woodlands, including a 20 acre private lake. Used primarily as a summer camp, Camp Rockmont is located 15 miles east of Asheville, NC, near the town of Black Mountain.

The camp accommodates participants in a variety of shared cabins bunkhouses, and shared lodge rooms, as well as camping. 

Bring your own bedding: All on-site accommodations require you to bring your own bedding (sheets and blankets, or sleeping bag, as well as pillows)--none is provided.

  • Camping

    Camping

    • Gear: No camping gear is provided, bring a tent, sleeping bag, etc.
    • Reservations: All camping areas are available on a first come first served basis
    • Amenities: There are no tables, fire pits, grills or food lockers in the camping areas
    • Fires: No open fires permitted, even in fire bowls. You may bring a campstove for cooking
    • Bathrooms: Nearby porta-potties, handwashing sinks, and shared bathhouse with communal showers
    • Price: $0 (included in registration cost)

    Camps

    • Mountain Camp: Remote camping up on the mountain with views, and a  steep hike with many stairs from the center of camp. Walk your camping gear to campsite from nearby Mountain Lot parking.
    • Lakeside Camp: Along the wooded shores of Lake Eden. A short walk around the lake to the center of camp. Parking in satellite lot.
    • Grassy Camp: A centrally located large grassy field. Parking in satellite lot.
    • If you would like to sleep in your car, you may choose to park your car in Mountain Lot. You may not set up camp (tents, etc) outside of your car.

    Vehicle/Car Camping

    *New this year*  Due to changes at Camp Rockmont, there will no longer be vehicle camping sites for trailers, rv's, etc.

    : Higher elevation than the rest of camp, parking in mountain lot
    Accessibility
    : Steep walking on trails and stairs
    Price: $45 per bed or $350 for full cabin rental
  • Bunkhouses

    Beds: Bunk beds with bare mattresses (bottom bunks can be reserved for women with mobility challenges - make a note in the lodging request section of the registration form)

    : Table, cubbies, electrical outlets and lights (during the day there will be youth programs taking place in the lodge common room)

    : Shared bathroom with a toilet and sink, shared bathhouse with communal showers downstairs
    Capacity
    : 14 women per bunkhouse
    Location: Centrally located upstairs in the lodges, parking in main lot
    Accessibility: Only a short walk from conference activities
    Price: $110 per bed

    Accessibility: Only a short walk from conference activities

    Amenities: Dresser or closet, cubbies, electrical outlets, lights
    Bathrooms: Shared bathhouse with toilets and communal showers nearby
    Capacity: 2 women per room
    Location: remote, private, parking in mountain lot
    Accessibility: Steep walking on trails and stairs
    Price: $350 for 2 women
  • Offsite Lodging

    A number of participants choose more private overnight lodging, in the towns of Black Mountain and Asheville, each just a 15 minute drive away. Participants staying off site need to select the Commuter Parking Pass option upon registration.

    Camp Rockmont (the conference venue) has two large rental houses (each house has 4-5 bedrooms that sleep up to 18), just 10-15 minute walk from the conference events: Gloryland and Valley View, at $525/night group rate. To reserve one of these houses, contact edwardl@rockmont.com
