Enhancing our Practice: Advanced Classes

Classes are grouped in sections for ease of understanding only. Participants may take classes in any section at any time without preregistration (except intensives which you must sign up for).

Heart Health (Advanced)
with Mimi Hernandez, Friday 2:30-4:00
Drinking from the fountain of heart youthfulness means indulging yourselves in the succulence of berries, pomegranates, dark chocolates, and red wine!  Much to our delight all these have been found to have beneficial effects in the prevention of heart disease!

Auto Immune Disorders (Advanced)
with Kathleen Maier, Friday 4:30 to 6:00
Chronic illness is on the rise and conventional medicine has few answers. We’ll discuss physiology, body ecology, environment, and energetics as well as practical herbal remedies. Learn how deep nourishment can help regain balance. Therapies for diabetes, thyroid disease and arthritis will be covered.

Herbal COX-2 Inhibitors (Advanced)
with Dr. Jody Noe, Saturday 9:00-10:30
We’ll look at the biochemical pathway of inflammation called the cyclooxygenase pathway (COX-2) and the prostaglandin 2 series of pro-inflammation, how herbal medicines affect this pathway, and current research data that indicates specific actions and interactions using these botanicals as a COX-2 anti-inflammatory.

Chinese Herbal Energetics (Advanced)
with Jessica Godino, Saturday 11:00-12:30
The ancient Chinese created an elegant system to classify herbs by their energetic blueprint of taste, temperature, and affinity. Learn how to apply this system to deepen our practical understanding and refine how we choose our herbs.

The Uterus - Cornerstone of Women's Health (Advanced)
with Debbie Schneider, Saturday 3:00-4:30
A slide presentation of The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy ™ explores the importance of the position of the uterus on overall health and how uterine massage assists with normalizing menstruation, painful periods, uterine fibroids, digestive disorders and recovery from surgery.

Energy Healing for Practitioners (Advanced)
with Laurel Mamet, Saturday 5:00-6:30
Learn to create wellness through light body expansion. Understand energetic anatomy and how to focus inwardly to realign energy to a new vibration. We’ll cover the light body and chakra systems, which are foundational to understanding the energy patterns of health and disease.

Phytoestrogens Demystified (Advanced)
with Juliet Blankespoor, Sunday 9:00-10:30
We will examine the intricate interplay between plant compounds and our hormonal receptor sites by exploring dietary and herbal sources of phytoestrogens. Xenoestrogens and their affects on the human body will also be discussed.

Taste and Understand Herbal Actions (Advanced)
with Mimi Hernandez, Sunday 11:00-12:30

Bring your tastebuds! This class gives the most basic foundational understanding of what an herb does both physically and energetically based on the way it tastes and feels. Learn to identify the function and activities of astringency, aromatics, bitter, sour, spicy.
