Hi everyone!  I was able to attend back in '09 & will be seeing you all in '11.  I can't say how incredibly excited I am to be going again this year.  After mulling it over for some time, spirit impressed upon me that it won't happen unless I take a leap & do it.  Love & blessings to everyone & see you in a few days... WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!  ;D

Hello Everyone, I have just returned from this years Conference and had a Wonderful time of course.   The reason I am joining the blog today is that I thought I had lost my wallet while there.  I found it when I unpacked the car and wanted to notify everyone connected with the Conference management that I HAVE FOUND IT ;D!  Thank you all so much for your concern and care.  You really are a Super-FANTASTIC bunch.

If I am posting in the wrong place and someone knows where this should go I'd appreciate a hand.  Promise I'll post a
proper introduction a bit later; but for now I'm a city gal and a Grandma with a backyard garden and a lot of hope.
 Later, sccrone

Hello friends!

I just returned from the SEWHC 2011 which I attended with my two daughters.  It was such a wonderful experience spiritually and educationally, and a fabulous retreat to go to with my girls.  I have taken so much information I have learned at the conference and begun adding it to my Acupuncture Practice in Auburn, Alabama, specifically the herbal remedies.  I have really been making use of my own large herbal and medicinal garden.  This was such a treat and I am recommending it to many of my lady friends.  Can't wait for next year.  Would love to connect with any women in this forum.

Stay Mindful,
Paula

Hi, my name is Shamanic Winds (aka., Mona) and I am from Michigan and actually live ten minutes away from our local and well-known Herbalist Jim Mcdonald.  I'm very new to learning about Herbs and am self-taught, so I get much of my information online, through books, and experiencing out on my own Land in the Woods that I live on.  I'm currently working with the Trees in our area that I've seen all my life and am leaning towards Identifying them in many different ways.

Last year I started in Herbalism with working with Herbal Allies, and making tinctures, elixirs, infused oils -- and getting more materials so that I can work on making salves.  I want to eventually start planting my own herbs and bringing some of our plants and flowers in our yard back to life this upcoming Spring.

Blessings Abound to you ALL!

Hi All,

Wow, a Wise Woman forum, how wonderful is this?

I am 48 years old, the working mother of an 11 year old daughter, gardener, activist, and a neighbor of Red Moon Herbs.  I had used some Echinacea and cranberry for bladder infections, but knew little about herbs. When I learned that I was pregnant I went to the local Health Food Store to purchase a pregnancy book and the one I purchased was by Susan Weed – The Childbearing Year.  As I read the book, I was wondering where in the world I would find the products mentioned.  In the sources section it read “Red Moon Herbs”, and how surprised was I that it was my neighbor, less than 2 miles away !!!  I had actually seen her catalogue once.  I met Corinna shortly after this to purchase Yellow Dock Tincture for low iron.  Wa-la, no more low iron.

After my daughter was born, I took an herbal class with Corinna, it was the day after I had been pulling pesky weeds out of my flower garden.  At this class I learned that every single ‘weed’ I had pulled had a medicinal use.  So, it was easy to make my own tinctures after the class, because most of the herbs that I needed were already placed in abundance around me.  I apprenticed with Corinna after that, and it changed my life in so many wonderful ways.  For a long time, I was also the ‘laundry woman’ for Red Moon Herbs.   I have had the pleasure of attending the Women’s conference a few times.  I worked in the RMH booth this past year, and hope to again this year.   Being in the presence of so many strong women is a wonderful and nourishing experience.   The conference has grown so much since it started.

I am looking forward on how much I can learn on this forum from other Wise Women!  Or, I may have something to share…

Blessings,
3sa

I'm Jessica, and I'm a vet tech who is new to all this exploring.  Recently digging deeper into radical homemaking, homesteading, and growing more interested in herbs and the ways of wise women daily.  Beginning an edible and herb garden this year, and planning on attending the conference.

I am very excited to be involved with this forum and learn as much as I possibly can from the wise women here!   ;)

Greetings and salutations to all the wise women here! I am an aging RN having had a proclivity for the autonomy provided by learning and using herbal preparations for the purposes of making life more liveable. I studied Herbal Simples with Jennifer Tucker over 10 years ago in State College PA. We learned to make many preparations from the plants that grow around us, specifically as remedies for the afflictions that are common to this area.

I work full time as an RN in a 'regular' hospital, but have a booming herbal practice outside of and in conjunction with the people at work. A friend opened a little shop in November featuring locally handmade products, with a few of my herbal products being featured...I was dumfounded by the response in just a few weekends, and am now frantically preparing for her grand opening in May.

I look forward to learning from fellow herbalists in this forum, perhaps avoiding a few of the pitfalls of 'live and learn' and learning from other's experiences.

I am associated with an organic, community supported farm near my home...the proprietors of which grow many of the herbs I use to make various medicinal agents.

In this area of North Central PA we suffer from spring and fall allergies and all the associated symptoms of damp lungs and damp earth... therefore many of my products are aimed at relieving these miserable afflictions.

Hi, my name's Jenny. I've been using herbs since I was a teenager. I'm currently a student in Rosemary Gladstar's Science and Art of Herbalism Course. I live in an area where herbalism is almost unheard of and it gets rather lonely. Last year my daughter and I went to the Traditions in Western Herbalism conference and it was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life. The gathering of women in circle in a class by Robin Rose Bennett was a transformational experience for me and the highlight of the conference. I heard about the Southeast Women's Herbal Conference from an online friend and I decided it sounded like just the place I would love to be. I don't know if I can come up with the money to go this year but I'm really, really hoping to be able to attend.

Also, is there a place on the forum to discuss ride shares? I can't seem to find it.

Hello everyone!

I have recently left a path without soul, in the hospital system, to return to massage therapy, earth-based ritual, and more time in the woods. Learning about plants and trees, and especially their healing properties, is now a major focus in my life, and long overdue. My partner and I live in Asheville and are starting to grow a few herbs and keep bees. I am so looking forward to learning from the wisdom of women.

Hello Sisters ~ My name is Tamara. I was blessed to have grown up in the hollers of the Appalachian Mountains. My great grandmother and her family before her were the granny wives of the mountains. They used herbs, midwifed babies & were called witches by many. I remember my Mamaw taking me to dig roots and gather herbs. We made syrups, poultices, and extracts. I grew up on a farm where we preserved almost everything we ate. I was slaughtering our meats by the time I was 11 and could make moonshine by the age of 12 :)

I grew older and moved away. I wanted to do away with what I thought was "silly mountain things". I was a "sophisticated west coast person".  By my late 20's I was once again called to the land and her gifts. I watched them heal both spiritually and emotionally.

Today I find my grounding in the earth. I am continually learning and growing.  I am a mother of 5 and grandmother to 9. I am 51 years old and am blessed to have my husband of 34 years who lifts me up and supports the wise women way.

I am honored to have the opportunity to attend the Southeast Wise Women Conferance this fall. I can not wait to learn more and hope to see many of you there.
