Leanne:
Leanne practices community herbalism in the Wise Woman Tradition on a small family farm in Southern Appalachia, enjoying rich, diverse, local medicinal plant life. She began formally studying herbal medicine in 2003 with the Master Herbalist program through the American College of Health Sciences, but has loved and lived with medicinal plants for most of her adult life. There's nowhere she would rather be than out studying and wildcrafting with native plants. Leanne is currently working on Susun Weed’s ABCs of Herbalism correspondence course and is a regular attendee of the Southeast Women’s Herbal Conference and local workshops. She is happily married, has three daughters and runs an herbal products business, Herbaluna, from her home.
If you would like to volunteer to moderate the Southeast Wise Women Forum, please contact Leanne at Leanne@herbaluna.com.
Shraddhananda:
Jackie Dobrinska joined the Southeast Wise Woman team in July after participating in the Wise Woman Immersion Program, which she says "was an amazing and transformative experience!"
Jackie has taught and studied wellness from ancient traditions for almost ten years, "officially" beginning her studies with the science of Yoga in 2002 and over time incorporating wisdoms from the Wise Women, Pachakuti Mesa and Five-Element Traditions.
It was Yoga that opened Jackie to the world of herbal medicine, and in 2005 she moved to the Himalayan Institute to study both more. A few years later she completed a 350-hour herbal program with Blue Ridge School of Herbalism, and has been out in the woods and fields near her home wildcrafting ever since. In addition to being a certified herbalist, yoga teacher and energy healer, Jackie is also a certified community consultant in Ayurveda - which incorporates diet, nutrition, and lifestyle into its practice.
Jackie lives on Little Pisgah Mountain near Hickory Nut Gap Farms (just outside of Asheville) where she cultivates many plant and animal friendships. Her days include assisting great companies like Southeast Wise Women with public relations and outreach, while also maintaining a private yoga and stress reduction practice (www.TheAlchemyofTransformation.com). Jackie currently coaches on yoga and wellness privately as well as in group classes at Warren Wilson College, AB Technical College, Mission Hospital's Integrative Healthcare Department, and more.
It is her privilege and honor to be a part of this forum!
