Asthma
« on: May 03, 2012, 05:11:23 PM »
Hello everyone!!

I have asthma which usually isn't a problem except when it flares up as spring and summer kick in, and with it, here in the south-the humidity.
I had an inhaler when I was a kid but I'm reluctant to use it now, knowing (or maybe not knowing) the possible side effects. I am looking for some seasonal type herbs I can take, for my chronic mild condition.

thanks!!

There are a couple of things that can be shown to help....

~ one thing is to start using a neti pot in the spring and fall to help clear pollen from pathways.

~ some have worked with Breathe Clear (Goldenrod, Ground Ivy, Plantain) from Red Moon Herbs
to support healthy function of the upper respiratory system and breathing passages*

~ Motherwort was formerly used to treat rheumatism and lung problems, like bronchitis and asthma by traditional herbalists.

~ Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a stately fuzzy-leaved plant frequently found on roadsides has been suggested to help as well.  2-4 cups of brewed infusion (strained through a cheesecloth) for 4-6 weeks has done wonders for some.

Let us know what you decide to do and how things progress.
Blessings!
Jackie
