Gifting Economy
« on: January 06, 2012, 03:58:59 PM »
Many of us Wise Woman know what a pleasure it is to create our own homemade medicines infused with our love and magic. I am interested in connecting with women in western NC who make "medicine"... anything from tinctures to wild green pesto... to swap ideas, recipes, and potentially goods! How much fun would it be to organize a local gift giving circle in your area to connect with other like-minded women? To many native peoples, this is considered a pot-latch, wherein gifts are traded without the use of money. Perhaps you need elderberry syrup ASAP, and another person can't wait to get her hands on that lavender honey you made.
Our shifting economic times challenge us to rethink traditional methods of currency. Why not participate in a gifting economy?

What an amazing idea!  Thanks for getting this started!
I'm excited to share meads, tinctures and flower essences with other wise woman!
Blessings,

I would love to gift in such an economy.  I'm new to this circle and am going to the immersion program May 27 to June 1. I would love to give what I can to support this community.  :) Love, KYwisewoman (in the making!)

I also would love to participate in a gifting economy, it is such a radically beautiful way to make social change in our communities. In my home community we sometimes trade items for things we need and give things away when they are no longer useful. The goods always seem to come back to us in some form or another!
