Jack in the pulpit root is native to the eastern US, ranging from Minnesota to Florida. There are accounts of native people's using the dried and powdered root as a sterility promoter. Much caution and research needs to be taken, as the plant contains poisonous compounds the can cause burning and swelling in the mouth, throat, and digestive tract.
